Eyewear- What’s In – 2016?

Are you in search of new shades or prescription glasses this Spring? They can be a fun fashion accessory to add extra pizzazz to your look throughout the year. If you’ve always worn the same style, chances are good that its time to switch it up! One of the new trends for Spring are translucent acrylic frames, especially in shades of soft blues, greys, and pinks….think “Pantone colors of the year Rose Quartz and Serenity Blue.” This glamorous pink acrylic pair of designer frames is made by Dior… so stylish!

Also new for Spring are soft brushed metals like this sassy pair of matte black aviators with grey lenses from Gucci.

This year, women and men can find eyewear with natural elements of real or faux wood and bamboo accents like this pair from Gucci.

For the man in your life, the RayBan Clubmaster is available for the first time in real wood!

Aviators are always classic for both men and women, but ladies if you want to try something new, you’ll find butterfly shapes or super mod exaggerated cat eye frames like this two-toned pair from Stella McCartney.

Spring TIPS and TRENDS

Here’s a great question….. has it finally quit raining??? We should actually start having beautiful Spring-time weather. So…..what’s new for Spring?

One of the biggest trends for Spring is clean and crisp STRIPES! Stripes are everywhere and on everything this season! Narrow stripes are more flattering on most people than a bold stripe which can be a trickier option. Treat a two tone contrast stripe like this jacket from Dillard’s as a neutral and wear with any other solid color, or a print if you’re adventurous!

Another trend for Spring is a black and white color combo. It’s found in clothes, accessories, and shoes like these pumps by Ivanka Trump available at Nordstrom.

Floral prints are springing up on jeans, jackets and tops….even headbands like this tropical style and lots of other super cute “Turband’s” s from cultgaia.com which look great mostly on younger ladies!

Metallic studs, lace and laser cut-outs are popular trends and can make your outfit look new! Gold studs on this Michael Kors small shoulder bag from Macy’s are a perfect accent and transform even a simple outfit.

Add a new top with laser cuts from Tibi to your Spring wardrobe for a modern twist. Wear it with jeans for a night out with the girls or with a skirt for the office. Layer on a jacket for those cool Spring mornings and nights!

Have FUN this SPRING and just try something a little bit different than you always wear. You might like it!

Be My Valentine

Valentine’s Day is around the corner…

Do you have a hot date with your honey? Follow these suggestions to make your life easier!

White House Black Market has a “very berry” sheath dress…

…and at Dillard’s you’ll find this beautiful magenta one shoulder BCBG dress on sale right now!

Bloomingdales’s carries a “wear anywhere” tulip colored Anne Klein swing dress with three quarter sleeves and….

Tadashi makes figure flattering dresses like the claret colored off the shoulder number from Nordstrom.

How about a red hot lace Valentine’s dress….by Nicole Miller from Nordstrom too.

Or, you could also go more comfortable and fun with the watermelon print Ali Ro dropped waist knit dress from Neiman Marcus.

So many choices…..have fun! Have HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY and let me know if you need help finding the perfect dress style for you!

Kick Up Your Style in 2013

ADD a JACKET to MAKE your OUTFIT!

Are you invited to a Super Bowl Party and don’t know what to wear? Or maybe you’re headed to New Orleans to see who grabs the trophy! Can the Atlanta Falcons do it??? You can toss a jacket over almost any outfit and you’ve just doubled your style all year long!  A jacket adds effortless chic to an ordinary outfit. Think black leather motorcycle jacket over a t-shirt and jeans, or a denim jacket over a sweater dress and boots.

Jennifer Anniston’s wearing a classic fitted navy blazer in this photo from 2010… it’s just as stylish now as it was then, and will be for years to come. So, what type of jacket do you need?

This denim jacket from Old Navy is on sale now and comes in six colors! The current fashion trend of wearing a denim jacket with denim jeans is great, but make sure the two colors are contrasting so you don’t look like you’re wearing a denim suit!

Jackets with contrast piping are popular like GAP’s version in a comfortable knit fabric. This blazer will go from the office to date night. Wear it with a solid colored top, stripe or print underneath since it’s a neutral… you can find it in petite and tall sizes too.

A fitted blazer like this from Ann Taylor will hide your figure flaws and give you a streamlined look making you appear pounds thinner, and

White House Black Market’s mini trench coat has great waist detail for a slimming look too!

Wear a jacket and feel stylish and confident for the game, a date night or the office!

Emerald Green: THE color of 2013!

Find YOUR best Emerald Green for the Holidays!

The Pantone Color Institute makes a prediction each December of the most popular color for the following year. Last Thursday, December 6th, lush and lively emerald green was selected for 2013 which means you’ll be seeing it everywhere including clothing and accessories, home furnishing, paint…. even cars. So, is there a better time than now to show off some of those gorgeous greens during the holidays?

Many celebrities have been sighted wearing emerald green gowns including Pippa Middleton looking fabulous in her dress by Temperley London. If you’re not headed to a formal event like Pippa and green is not one of your colors, consider the hue in shoes or accessories.

If you’d like to wear a casual green, Anthropologie has a darling “winter waves” cardigan sweater that could be fun and

Dillard’s carries Steve Madden studded ballet flats which would be perfect for the annual neighborhood “hot chocolate and cookie” gathering.

Coach makes a new emerald Penny Leather Shoulder Purse with a tassel detail that would make a great gift for the holidays and would be enjoyed throughout the New Year. No need to stress about what size to buy…it fits everyone!

Another perfect gift idea in green is these stud earrings from Kate Spade…. classic, classy and less than $50.

Will you be fresh and lovely wearing green in 2013?!!    One thing’s for sure… you’ll be ready for St. Paddy’s Day!

Polished Peplum

PEPLUM is BACK!

The modern take on the peplum style is super flattering on most body types. This style has been around and back again, starting with the 40’s, then the 80’s and is a huge trend again for 2012. This extra flounce of fabric has been added to tops and jackets, skirts, dresses and high waisted pants…even hemlines.

Here’s Charlize Theron in a classic red Lanvin peplum dress for the MTV Movie Awards back in June,

and Emma Stone at the same event in a dramatic black peplum top. While Emma is wearing a fuller skirt, its generally best to have a fitted silhouette on the bottom by wearing slim pants or a pencil skirt.

If you’re looking for a top with that extra ruffle try this cozy cashmere sweater from Bloomingdale’s which could be casual or dressy.

Another great peplum top, this one for plus sized women made in a metallic fabric by Alfani for Macy’s.…is perfect for the holidays!

And, a fantastic skirt that’ll make you want to wear peplum is this Alice + Olivia pencil skirt from Neiman Marcus. Pair it with a fitted blouse for an office party or dinner date.

Curious to know more about Peplum? Here’s a tiny little history lesson…..http://fashionandhistory.wordpress.com/2012/01/07/the-frilly-tale-of-the-peplum/

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO YOU!!!

Walk on the Bright Side

ADD COLOR TO YOUR LIFE!

One of the latest trends for Fall is a colored bag like Cameron Diaz is carrying as she’s out and about in LA. Her Reed Krakoff “gym bag” is sold at Nordstrom for $990 (here’s the green version)! If that’s a little out of your price range there are lots of lower cost options to keep you updated.

This pretty suede and leather bag from Talbot’s is a stylish choice! It’s an equestrian design and classic look in a gorgeous evergreen shade.

If you’re really loving the bright yellow carried by Cameron Diaz, then you might like the bag designed by Jennifer Lopez for Kohl’s. Its faux or “vegan” leather which makes it less expensive, lighter weight and saves the animal population.

For a crossbody style made of nylon, check out this bag from Marc Jacobs, available at Von Maur in a beautiful dark mauve color! If you don’t own a crossbody bag you’d be surprised how convenient it is to carry your essentials for a night out, or even just running errands.

A great bag for special occassions during the day or night is an envelope clutch. Shown in magenta, this clutch from Tory Burch (which also comes in two other colors) might be just what you need to complete your outfit! You can find it on the Tory Burch website and at Nordstrom.

What’s your favorite colored bag??? There might be a shade that doesn’t look good ON you but would be perfect to carry! Have FUN with it!

Color and Texture – Your Look for FALL

This Fall you’ll LOVE Emerald, Burgundy, Lace and Leather

If you shop for new Fall clothes, you’ll find lots of jewel tone hues in emerald and burgundy and richly finished blacks and golds. In addition to bags and boots, leather can be found in shirts, skirts, and pants.

Leather jackets are more popular than ever as you can see Pippa Middleton wearing hers over a simple dress, with neutral shoes and clutch.

Whether you’re 16 or 65, male or female, the leather jacket is a “must have” addition to your wardrobe. It’s super versatile for years to come and can be worn with jeans or pants, a t-shirt or a pencil skirt, to work on casual Friday’s, or dressed for a night out.

In addition to leather jackets are: jean jackets, military jackets, velvet, varsity, lace, suede, studded, and brocade. This great men’s jean jacket by John Varvatos can be found at Bloomingdale’s.

Also at Bloomingdales for women is a cabernet colored jean jacket by Earnest Sewn which just happens to be in one of the beautiful new Fall colors!

Have you noticed all the denim shirts worn by celebrities, or in ads, catalogs…. everywhere?! If you don’t own one, now is the time! This men’s denim basic is at Gap, along with a ruffled chambray version for women. Perfect for a Fall weekend!

Time for a Transition into FALL

Bring those summer clothes into your FALL wardrobe

The kids are going back to school and it’s time to start thinking about Fall clothes but it’s still SO HOT here in Atlanta! So, how do you transform your summer clothes and make them work for you into the Fall season? Easy it’s all about the accessories (again!).

FIRST, switch out your summer bag and wear a heavier style like this Steve Madden Lizzard satchel from Dillard’s. It’s a great transition from the straw or canvas bags of summer and is neutral enough to go with everything you want to wear for Fall!

NEXT, add a lightweight jacket, or even a vest. This cute jacket from LOFT which has figure flattering waist detail in the back, can be worn to work or with jeans!

OR, add an airy scarf in a rich color, like this green scarf made of breathable bamboo fabric from Target Stores. Toss it on over a t-shirt, dress, or jacket and you can wear it until late Fall. It’s best to incorporate a mix of textures into your look.

THEN, wear a pair of chunky sandals or open toe pumps like these from Nine West until it gets cold outside. The stacked wooden heel helps make this the perfect pair of shoes to get you transitioned into the Fall in style! Or, try this pair of platform sandals from Aldo,  which could be worn with a skirt just as well as jeans. So, now you’re all set for the next few months!

Remember the Tax Free Holiday dates in Georgia are August 10th & 11th!
