Summer is Here!

School’s Out and…. it’s Time for FUN in the SUN!!!

Chill out and relax a little….

it’s summer, so grab your bathing suit and head to the lake, the beach or the neighborhood pool! The May issue of LUCKY magazine features four swim suit trends for the summer…….

Tropical… like this fabric from one of my favorite bathing suit companies, Tara Grinna. Even OPRAH magazine has professed their LOVE for the company and this style specifically! Ok, they are not cheap but very well made, available in lots of styles and the fit is Fantastic! Tara Grinna has great options from bikinis to tankini’s that perfectly fit busty ladies.

Stripes… in this chic little bikini from J. Crew that’s available online only. Remember, wearing stripes in a suit (not this tiny bikini!) can magically define or camouflage, depending on the style and placement ….and who doesn’t want that?!!!

Digital Prints… are everywhere, like this bathing suit from Land’s End which can be found at Land’s End inside Sears stores. If you order on line or from the catalog, and it doesn’t work, you can return to the store and save the shipping fee.

There are lots of options so you can put together your best individualized style, whether it’s in regular, petite, plus size, long, mastectomy, even up to DDD cup!

Old Hollywood Glam… to accentuate your curves, go for a one piece swimdress with a ruched front panel that will give you a flattering fit like this La Blanca suit from Macy’s in a rich royal blue. You’ll feel self confident in the vacation photos. What a relief that is!!!

Now you’re in your fabulous swim suit and you’re looking for the perfect cover up, aren’t you? My last tip is another favorite, Barbara Gerwit tunics, sold online or in specialty stores. They are adorable, made in lots of fabrics and beautiful colors like this one with beading…. and worth every penny!

Nautical Style for Spring

Do you feel like a walking “what not to wear” casualty…. in need of a style make-over?

One of the latest trends for Spring you can feel safe with is the nautical look! This trend works well within any budget, and at any age or body type. Nauticals can be found in the smallest detail of accessories or an entire outfit of stripes or polka dots like this fun and comfortable dress made by Vineyard Vines from their newly launched Kentucky
Derby Collection, which was featured in the May issue of In Style magazine, or this great maxi skirt by Ralph Lauren sold at Dillard’s!

Pair a striped top from Banana Republic with your crisp white linen pants or go bold with a bright colored denim…..

then add a fun hat like this one from Old Navy!

If you want just a touch of the nautical look but don’t feel comfortable in stripes or polka dots, then this bracelet from J. Crew might be just what you’re looking for!

Or maybe this stylish little straw bag from Kate Spade will make you smile! You’ll be in style as you sip your mint julep and cheer on your favorite horse running the Kentucky Derby held on May 5th! Will it be Union Rags, Bodenmeister, Gemologist or another contender in the lead?!! Guess we’ll see…

Popping Color With Bright Skinny Jeans

Popping Color With Bright Skinny Jeans

Bright colored jeans are all the rage these days and are a Great way
to bring color into your Spring wardrobe!

Did you recently see popular fashion trend setter Kate Middleton sporting some coral colored J Brand 811 jeans? So cute and she continues to prove she’s a style icon! What I love about Kate Middleton is that the majority of her clothes are affordable within reason for many of us. The sales for these jeans soared at department stores such as Bloomingdales and Nordstrom after Kate debuted them earlier this Spring.

Popping Color With Bright Skinny JeansAnother bright and vibrant color that screams Spring is a pair of green skinnies as you can see here on Cheryl Cole, who looks adorable for a night out on the town. These jeans pair really well with your looser tops or fun jackets and can be really flattering.

This weekend I stopped into one of my favorite stores, J Crew, and saw that they had a great selection of cropped skinnies with ankle zippers and I love that extra little detail!

It’s amazing how just one pair of skinny jeans can really transform and update your entire spring wardrobe. If you’re not comfortable with the skinny jeans look, why not consider a more versatile fit such as Gap’s colored khakis.

I went to the exciting new Nordstrom Rack near North Point Mall tonight for their Private Party! They had a great supply of bright skinny jeans in lots of colors!
