Eyewear- What’s In – 2016?

Are you in search of new shades or prescription glasses this Spring? They can be a fun fashion accessory to add extra pizzazz to your look throughout the year. If you’ve always worn the same style, chances are good that its time to switch it up! One of the new trends for Spring are translucent acrylic frames, especially in shades of soft blues, greys, and pinks….think “Pantone colors of the year Rose Quartz and Serenity Blue.” This glamorous pink acrylic pair of designer frames is made by Dior… so stylish!

Also new for Spring are soft brushed metals like this sassy pair of matte black aviators with grey lenses from Gucci.

This year, women and men can find eyewear with natural elements of real or faux wood and bamboo accents like this pair from Gucci.

For the man in your life, the RayBan Clubmaster is available for the first time in real wood!

Aviators are always classic for both men and women, but ladies if you want to try something new, you’ll find butterfly shapes or super mod exaggerated cat eye frames like this two-toned pair from Stella McCartney.

Trend Alert – Capes and Ponchos!

Do you remember wearing a cape or poncho back in the day? Well if this is your first time around with the trend, you’ll enjoy it because capes and ponchos are a huge hit this Fall and Winter and can be found nearly everywhere you look!

C Wonder has a black and white herringbone belted cape which was featured in September’s Oprah Magazine.

It pairs well with a skirt as in the photo below, pants, or your favorite jeans. The cape is available in petites too!

So, how do you wear this trend? If you’re wearing a poncho or cape, make sure the rest of your outfit is more fitted with a slim, straight, cropped or skinny leg pant or a skirt that stays close to your frame so you don’t look overwhelmed by your clothes, and no long skirts or baggy pants allowed! Keep your shirt plain, simple and smooth underneath so your cape or poncho is your style statement without extra bulk. A structured fabric works best for the office, while a knit is more appropriate for casual days. Capes and ponchos feel current, in style, and super chic so try them to break out of your “same old sweater” rut!

Guys….. It’s Date Night!

HERE’S THE PLAN….. and let’s keep it simple !

First, you need to know that BLUE is a fantastic color on most men! So if you want to look your best, go for a blue shirt, like this one from Dillard’s. White or red could be a second choice, but yellow is a tricky color and isn’t wonderful on many guys. Add a charcoal grey t-shirt underneath for extra style. Now that you know the color, decide if you’re going casual or a little nicer.

If you’re casual and wearing jeans, you might enjoy the Levi’s 501 original straight leg, sold in many stores but can be found at Macy’s. Heavy set men are better off with a boot cut jean.

Add a belt in woven leather like this made by Cole Haan at Nordstom for a little texture. Top your shirt with a great looking lightweight jacket, maybe in khaki from Nordstrom.

Then the last, VERY important thing is to leave your Nike shoes at home and wear a good leather shoe, possibly like the Ralph Lauren driver from Dillard’s.

You’ll look amazing for your Date! Have FUN guys and if you have questions, let me know!
